Very Russian Play  
"It took 8 years for Hitler to take his country to glory of Summer 1941... And then he took his nation to his grave. Is Putin 'Russian' enough to beat that legacy?"   [I posted something like this in reply to "New Cold War?"
No kidding -- Russia alway was fifty or so years behind Germany; and Russian Weimar Mess [1990s] ended up in "National Resurrection"... and if not Russians who else in the world is ready for another mass-madness? 
A lot of Germans of 1930s didn't think the catastrophe was possible. too. 
How did Europe react is known.
What if Putin is from the pages of Dostoevsky? [A thought after reading the latest piece of Radzhikhovsky, who was wrong about possiblity of war with Georgia.]
What else is ahead for Putin or Russia? 
Slow death? 
"Cross the line, superman!" -- and  here it is -- IMMORTALITY. Your name would be remembered millennia from that day, do it while you are not old man! Who can stop you? Nobody! No one! Do it!
Very seductive feeling, even if you never heard about the Great Inquisitor.
